Aaliyah Dana Haughton burst into the limelight in 1994 when she debuted her first album Age Ain't Nothing But a number. Her album, which was released when she only had 15 years of age it went Gold. The album was an album that was heavily inspired by R. Kelly and it brought her into the spotlight. In 1996 Jermaine Durpri and Timbaland collaborated to produce her sophomore album One In A Million. The album included the track If Your Boyfriend Only Knew as the number one. Aaliyah became a household name as an R&B artist following the launch of her second album, One In A Million. She was also as a character in Romeo Must Die, a action/romance film starring Jet-Li. Joel Silver, a film producer at an award show at the time she landed the role, noticed her. The year 2002 was the time she was involved in the Anne Rice-produced horror film Queen of the Damned. The Matrix Sequels followed, with Zee as the lead character. She is the first generation Indian-American born in Connecticut. Her stage name Mann is a short form of her marital name Mankad. Aarti is a combination of Aarti Majumdar as well as Aarti Munn as professional names. Though she initially had small TV and movie performances, her acting began becoming more popular in the mid 2000s. Her other noteworthy works include Leverage 2012, Suits 2013, and Grey's Anatomy 2017. Commercials for her show have included major brands, such as Volvo. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and daughter and is continuing to develop her acting career.
